User Instructions for JANAM Inventory Scanner

  • Power "ON" by clicking the power button on the top right of the scanner.
  • Click on the "B" Asset Inventory icon, this will display your main AIMS screen that lists buttons for Asset BU, Inventory Assets, View Inventory and Exit.
  • Click on the "Inventory Assets" bar.
  • This will display the Room Tag screen… for each room you will go to this screen and scan the door tag. (**You can MANUALLY enter room(s) with no door tag as well as inventory items whose tag may be worn off or scratched by either using the (abc) or (123) section of the touch screen or the keypad at the bottom of the scanner. Simply enter the info and then click "Done" bar to save the data. If you know the actual Room Tag number, you can enter that. If not, you can enter the actual building and room number (for example ADMN316A). Please keep under 8 characters in length).
  • If the room you are scanning does not have a Room Tag attached to it, contact Property Accounting to get a new Room Tag generated.
  • Hold the scanner parallel with the door tag and press either the left or right button(s) on the sides of the scanner to scan the tag. It will beep once with a green light if it scans correctly and a red light if it doesn’t read the bar code. Once you have scanned your room/door tag, click the inventory button… then proceed to scan each individual item that is located in that room.
  • Repeat scanning EACH room tag before scanning items in new rooms.
  • You may view your inventory at anytime by selecting the menu tab and then view inventory.
  • Make sure your scanner’s battery is charged at ALL times. It is suggested that you leave the scanner plugged in overnight during use. If battery goes dead, all your scanned info will be lost and you will have to re-schedule and scan your inventory again.
  • Once you have completed your inventory… Select exit from the main AIMS menu and turn the power off and return to ADMN 316 prior to your due date. After the information has been uploaded an email informing you that the scanner has been uploaded along with instructions on your next step to completing your department’s inventory will arrive.
